We were introduced to Zaffore team over 5 years ago. When we first starting working with them it seems a bit scary but as our relationship grew and we saw the impact Zaffore had on saving us money we were delighted. In fact they are so well trained in training us we paid them less this past year. Without them our business would be running less efficiently. We love that Kathy, Julie and Vicki are completely honest with us, they say it like it is good or bad, but it only helps us grow more financially in the
I have been using Zaffore Ruane for several years. They take care of my business and personal taxes. The team at Zaffore Ruane are extremely knowledgeable, always very helpful, and do a great job. I worked with other accounting firms prior to Zaffore Ruane and the other firms were nowhere near as good as Zaffore Ruane.
This would be a 10-star review if only that was an option. Our engineering firm has been a client for nearly 25 years, and rarely does one encounter a professional services firm that builds such deeply personal relationships as we have enjoyed with the Zaffore team. Highly qualified, tremendously knowledgeable staff address each and every aspect of their clients' tax situation to include valuable advice and suggested improved methods. Their attention to detail is second to none, and value-added resources
I first came to Zaffore CPA for both my personal and business returns about 7 or 8 years ago after feeling I was not getting the attention I needed with my prior CPA firm. I have been nothing but pleased with the level of service and the past few years have started 3 more companies (in addition to the one I already had). Needless to say, this past year with 4 companies plus my personal returns, I require a lot of personalized attention and feel like I can count on Kathy to answer the many questions I usu
So knowledgeable, caring, patient, and honest. After being with NUMEROUS CPA's for my businesses and personal taxes and accounting I can strongly recommend Zaffore and Ruane. I have been with them for over 10 years and couldn't be happier with the personalization I receive with their services, the extra help to manage my businesses, and the passion they have for taxes and numbers (which I do not!).
Great support and customer service. As a practice manager I'm overwhelmed with payroll, accounting, and managing the business. I'm so appreciative of the support I receive from Zaffore and Ruane. I don't know how they keep up with all the changes in laws and always make sure our business is on point, but they do it effortlessly. Highly recommend.
I chose Zaffore CPA firm because it was close and convenient for my business. As I painfully learned, that is a very bad way to select your accountant. I'd also like to state, I am not bitter. These are just facts and I hope to help other people make the best decision for their business by understanding better who they are trusting with their hard earned money. There are so many things I could share that were red flags but I'll try to keep it somewhat succinct. As a small business owner, I was looking
I was pleased with their services but for someone opening up their business this may not be the CPA for them. Although the cost was disclosed in the contract they set up, they were not up front with the amount of hours that would be spent on the bookkeeping. Then when asked for a breakdown of hours spent they were unable to give them, racking up a bill of nearly $2000 in initial startup fees outside of the thousands for taxes. I would give 5 stars for professionalism but 1 star is given because I felt I was
Absolutely excllent! Value in anything that you spend with these professionals. My business constantly had issues due it's past CPA was, as I found out, incompetent to the highest degree. Zaffore cleared all past issues! Also was able to get the company abaited for some IRS issues that were caused by the same individual in the past. Geoff has been my go to, but the whole team is solid and KNOWS what they are talking about. Thanks again!
I highly recommend Zaffore Ruane!!! Their accounting expertise and tax knowledge is unmatched. For 25 years, they have managed my business accounting and taxes and personal taxes with exceptional professionalism.
Kim Ruane is AMAZING. Very knowledgeable, helpful and timely. We have a fairly complicated tax situation that she's helped us with for years. We feel very blessed to have found her.
I have been using these folks since I moved to Colorado (which was like 100 years ago it seems) and they have been nothing but professional and helpful with my personal and my small business taxes. They take the time to explain when I have questions and always make themselves available. I have recommend to everyone I know and now I recommend them to you!
I have been doing business with Zaffore Ruane CPAs for over 20 years. They are fantastic to do business with. I wouldn?t take my taxes anyplace else.
If working with everyone at Zaffore for 20+ years counts for anything, then use that as a baseline. Great customer service, great pricing and overall just a great experience!
Absolutely wonderful. They are thorough and explain the ever complicated taxing system in laymen?s terms. They are always available to answer questions and never make me feel silly for asking them.
Look for a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license, which ensures they’ve passed rigorous exams and meet state requirements. Check for relevant experience in your industry, additional certifications like CFA or CMA, and membership in professional organizations like the AICPA. Verify their credentials through state licensing boards.
Use online directories like the AICPA, CPAverify, or state CPA societies. Search platforms like Yelp or Google for local CPAs with reviews. Ask for referrals from business associates, friends, or financial advisors. Local chambers of commerce can also provide recommendations.
A CPA is a licensed professional who has passed the CPA exam and met state requirements for education and experience. An accountant may lack this certification and could have varying levels of expertise. For complex tasks like tax audits or financial reporting, a CPA is typically more qualified.
Ask about their experience with your specific financial needs, such as tax preparation, small business accounting, or estate planning. Review their website or LinkedIn for case studies or client testimonials. Inquire about their client base to ensure they handle similar financial situations.
Yes, reviews provide insight into a CPA’s reliability, communication, and performance. Check platforms like Google, Yelp, or the Better Business Bureau for client feedback. Look for patterns in reviews, but verify their authenticity, as some may be biased or outdated.
Visit your state’s Board of Accountancy website or use CPAverify.org to check a CPA’s license status. Confirm their license is active and check for any disciplinary actions or complaints. This ensures they’re in good standing and meet professional standards.
Ask about their experience with your financial needs, fee structure, availability, and communication style. Inquire how they handle tax filings, audits, or financial planning. Ask for references or examples of similar work to assess their expertise and fit.
Fees vary based on location, services, and complexity. Basic tax preparation may cost $150-$500, while business accounting or audits can range from $1,000 to $10,000+. Request a detailed fee structure upfront and compare quotes from multiple CPAs.
Yes, many CPAs offer remote services through secure online platforms for document sharing and virtual consultations. Ensure they use encrypted tools for data security. Remote CPAs can be effective if they understand your local tax laws or business regulations.
During consultations, evaluate their ability to explain complex financial concepts clearly. Ask sample questions about taxes or financial strategies and note their responsiveness and clarity. Good communication ensures you understand their advice and fosters a productive relationship.
Beware of CPAs who guarantee specific tax refunds, lack a valid license, or have disciplinary actions on record. Avoid those with poor communication, vague fee structures, or negative reviews highlighting unethical behavior. Always verify their credentials independently.
Large firms offer more resources and specialized teams but may charge higher fees. Solo practitioners often provide personalized service and lower costs but may have limited availability. Choose based on your needs, budget, and preference for personalized attention.
For individuals, annual meetings for tax preparation may suffice. Businesses may need quarterly or monthly check-ins for bookkeeping, tax planning, or financial reporting. Discuss your needs upfront to establish a meeting schedule that aligns with your financial goals.
Yes, many CPAs handle both, but confirm their expertise in both areas. Ask about their experience managing personal taxes and business accounting simultaneously. Ensure they can balance both without compromising attention to your specific financial needs.
Discuss concerns directly with your CPA to resolve issues. If unresolved, check your contract for termination terms. Seek a new CPA by researching reviews, credentials, and referrals. Request your financial records to ensure a smooth transition to a new professional.
